The third piece we would have bought if we could have afforded three

Would have bought this too if we were going for a set of four

Copyright piece that I liked (click on image to enlarge)

Was lucky enough this week to get invited to Precious Damage, an exhibition put on by Zero Cool Gallery. The 'one night only' exhibition featuring Copyright (UK) and Numskull (AUS) was held at the Red Bull Studio space at London Bridge, London on Thursday 17/02.

The concept for the show was simple. Each artist had created 50 works on card using a mixture of paint, paste and print. The 100 pieces were then used to panel the walls of the space. The pieces were all priced £100. Once purchased the pieces were taken off the wall by the purchaser so over the course of the evening the installation broke apart.

The function started at 7, so by the time we got there at 8 a significant number of peices had already dissapeared. It was great seeing happy smiling faces of purchasers walking around the show with their newly aquired artworks under their arm.

The bar ran free from 7-9, so a great time had by all. Thanks Zero Cool and Red Bull Studios for a great night.

Came across these beautiful design pieces in Argentina, and while not strictly speaking street art, they are wonderful pieces of well designed artwork.

While loitering around the port area of La Boca in Buenos Aires we came across this awesome paste-up high up on the side of a warehouse. The football player portraits were made of newspaper pages, and all the tonal areas were defined by the amount of darkness on each page. It was an awesome piece, well 3 actually, and must have taken absolutely ages to plan. As you can see from the zoomed out pics they are very large pieces. Really impressive stuff.

Favella art from Brazil

In Brazil we were staying in a beautiful hostel high on the hills of Santa Teresa, with a glorious view over the city out to Sugarloaf mountain in one direction and up to Christo in the other direction. The hostel, Casa 579, was sandwiched between 2 favellas, and as part of an ongoing community support initiative bought art from artists from these favellas to decorate the hostel. Because of the lack of funds the art was generally done on all manner of found materials including hubcaps, dust bin lids, cardboard and wood. These are a couple of the pieces I really liked including the favella bar with working lights. Nice.
