The London Police at StolenSpace Gallery

Fantastic new show at StolenSpace Gallery on Brick Lane. The London Police take over gallery 1 with some spectacular works including some seriously large canvases.

Also a foray into London pop and style icons

The show titled "All at Sea" runs until 29th May, so hurry on down to check it out - you won't be disappointed.

In gallery 2 is a fantastic show of paintings from American artist Scott Lisfield entitled 'An American astronaut in London, and as you can see from the images below, does what it says on the tin. Great show, and equally worth checking out while you're there.

Thursday just been was exhibition opening night, and I managed to cram in 3 galleries as well as a photo walk down Brick Lane (but I'll cover that in following posts). Will mention at this point tho, that whilst on that walk I photographed a fantastic Soto piece on a ply sheet gate, and had it up online before the folk at Wooster Collective. Ha!

The Jeff Soto show featured over twenty new paintings on wood panel and paper, as well as large-scale outdoor installations. The opening saw the release of a limited edition hand pulled screen print and Soto was signing copies of his newly published book ‘Storm Clouds’.

The Inland Empire’ is a politically charged exhibition focusing on the theme of recession in the area in which the artist lives and how it reflects what is happening all over the world.

Got to meet Jeff at the show, and he seemed like a top chap (he was obviously very busy doing the signing, photos and general chatty stuff).

Runs 14th May – 07th June 2009. Stolenspace, The Old Truman Brewery. 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL

'10 Years On The Circle Line' by The London Police

It's amazing to think that it was ten years ago, in 1998, that The London Police art collective started propagating their now iconic "Lads" on city streets across Europe. The London Police and the lads personify the entire street art movement. It's impossible to talk about one (in England anyway) without the other.

So to celebrate their 10th Anniversary, Chaz and Bob (London Police's original team) opened '10 Years On The Circle Line' at the StolenSpace Gallery on Brick Lane in London.

So get down and see it before it shuts (26/4). The team at StolenSpace rock, and you can sign up get on their mailing list, and advance warning and guest list for their up and coming showings. They're handily located near the Big Chill Bar for when the free beer runs out too.
