David Walker at Rook & Raven Gallery

Went to the opening of the first solo show by David Walker - Brides on fire -  at the end of last month. Some stunning paintings at the show, and a great turn out. We would have loved to buy one of the large works, but a bit outside our budget (and our flat is too small to do it the justice it deserves. We ended up buying a print of one of the paintings instead, which we love, and got a couple of hand painted masks from David too.

This wall piece was awesome - not for sale though

This is the piece we bought a print of - Bride 1

Love this wall - sorry about the focus

David Walker at White Canvas Gallery

A few pics from the wonderfully talented David Walker group show at White Canvas Gallery the other week. He is such a skilled artist, and really looking forward to his first solo show coming up at Rook & Raven in a few weeks.

It was great to see him branching into new media like the installation above, using a desk, a car door and bonnet, a french door and a petrol can. Viewed from the same level it made an interesting multi-level piece, but viewed from above (the mezzanine) the installation was levelled, and most impressive.

Loved this piece in wooden boards (click on image to enlarge)

Here's something I meant to chuck up a while ago but never got round to, so for followers of David Walker, here it is. Was lucky enough to be walking by as he was about 3/4 of the way through this piece. I'm a big fan of his work, and watching him in action was marvelous. He just makes it look so fuckn easy. Great skills - much respect David (oh, and he's a hellova nice guy too...)
