Although Madrid based artist SpY's roots are in graffiti, his ability to communicate his message through the street has evolved well beyond the original artform. Using an arsenal of trade skills and applications, there is no limit to SpY's reach, and his productions so aptly called interventions. Whether it be modifying billboards or signs, fences or markings on the road, sculptures or traffic lights, the sense of humour and irony in his work screams of his name and have been seen across the globe.

Deep on the streets of Wood Green...

Been quite a while since my last post as my sister has been over from New Zealand, so I''ve been hanging out with her, which has been awesome. That said, it doesn't mean I haven't been out and about capturing images from the streets. Got some new stuff to put up soon, and a couple of features coming too, but more on that later this month.

This pic is from the Deep series. Deep is my rotational ambigram sticker design, so I'm prototyping the stencil currently. This was a quick trial, but I didn't have a ruler or any quality paint at time of impact, so it's a bit ropey really. Asked Drew if he could take a pic for me, and as I was lying on the foot path for the photo a cop car rolled up with sirens on and just about parked on my head. They had seen us from down the street and thought we were having a fight. Ha!

Some random pieces around Brick Lane and 'hood

Wandering around on the high street at the bagel end of Brick Lane when I ran into my mate Si Hill. We were standing there talking about graffiti and stuff. He showed me some of the stuff he'd photographed the week before, and I showed him some of my best of the day. We were talking about observation when I looked down at the ground and saw this piece at the bottom of a pillar at foot path level, highlighting how observant you've got to be to see everything around us (Si didn't notice it till I bent down to take the pic).
