Time to clear the phone...

Been a while since I have purged the phone, so I thought I'd chuck up a few of my favs from the last little while when I haven't had my camera with me. Quality is a but sus, but you get that. Enjoy.

Tile in Archway - don't think it's anything to do with Invader tho... )

(Penis, think this was near Angel somewhere?)

(Banksy or not? Think not, but it's along Holloway Rd by a bed shop)

This little classic pasteup on the way to work near Grays Line Road, just around the corner from a fried chicken shop. It was about 60cm tall.

SHOK-1

A little bit more of SHOK-1 now, and some pieces that I liked from the last little while.

He did this commissioned piece in China, and it wasn't up long (in fact he was on the plane back to UK) before the Chinese government sensored it. They informed him it was to be painted over, but that didn't happen - instead, they "modified" it, with the addition of some fish and hook ends. Looks carp now!

Please read more of this story as it unfolds here:

Moniker Art Fair 2011 pt 1

Went to the Moniker art fair in mid October. Another splendid show put on by Moniker Projects in Shoreditch. Had a few (well, actually many) favourites, some of which I'll feature over the next few posts. I don't have the artists or galleries list with me as I write this, so I'll come back and fill in the blanks when time allows. Enjoy..

Absolutely brilliant! (click on image to enlarge)
The medium for this large piece was not apparent until you got up close

Another of the works that we really liked were the two lenticular pieces featured below. Very hard to photograph, but fantastic in the flesh. Can;t recall who the artist was, but they were represented by Scream Gallery from London. I'll try to find out and fill in this blank...

No Entry sign off The Strand

Came across this adjusted no entry sign just off The Strand on Friday night. Have noticed a few of these going up over the last few months. Very simple and effective pieces.

David Walker at White Canvas Gallery

A few pics from the wonderfully talented David Walker group show at White Canvas Gallery the other week. He is such a skilled artist, and really looking forward to his first solo show coming up at Rook & Raven in a few weeks.

It was great to see him branching into new media like the installation above, using a desk, a car door and bonnet, a french door and a petrol can. Viewed from the same level it made an interesting multi-level piece, but viewed from above (the mezzanine) the installation was levelled, and most impressive.

Loved this piece in wooden boards (click on image to enlarge)

SHOK-1 at Meeting of Styles, London

Here is the post as promised earlier. These images are from the bone wall he did at Meeting of styles, The Studio, Holloway in London last month. This piece really stood out for us - it was so different from anything there, and from anything we'd seen before. I was following SHOK-1 a while back, and went to a few of his exhibition openings, but his style has evolved fast in the last couple of years, and I love what he is doing right now. Will put some more of his work up in the next little while, so keep an eye out...
